Many of you might remember this necklace:
People keep asking me how I made it, so I made another version in dark green and wrote up a quick tutorial for you all!
Here is what you will need:
I started with the materials above. I used some small jump rings, two strands of the small beads shown above, a 32 inch long chain, the flat metal disks from an old pair of earrings, and half a pack of head pins. Whew! You can use a shorter chain then 32 inches too, I just liked this as a really long necklace.
Connect both ends of your chain together with a jump ring.
Put a bead onto one of your head pins:
Cut your head pin down to about 1/4 of an inch:
Use your needle nose pliers to create a hook with the end of the head pin. Leave it open a little bit:
Loop your hook over a link of the chain, then clamp it closed:
I stated out by placing four beads around the length of the chain to create equal fourths. Then I filled in the bottom two sections by spacing the beads evenly within them. Then I took the bottom two sections of those, and filled those in more:
Then once I had gotten it to that point, I started filling it in randomly:
Here's a close up of the bottom of the necklace, before adding the silver disks. If you're not using two different kinds of beads, ignore the next few steps:
I removed the disks from the earrings:
I attached each of the disks to the chain with small jump rings:
I just put the disks on randomly. If you're just using one kind of bead and not two, keep filling in the empty spots along the bottom three inches with beads:
Once you run out of beads, you're done! The bottom three inches should be very, very tightly spaced. At the end I got to the point where I was placing a bead in every link of the chain. This makes for a lot of movement and texture.
There you have it! I hope you enjoy this tutorial and that you love your new necklace! As always, if you make one of your own please let us know and send us pictures. We love seeing our reader's creations, and you never know, they just might get featured on our blog or social media!

I love it. Great use of the earrings. I was looking at this and thinking, "hey, she ripped off the 'Miss Pink' necklace, I wonder who did that." Haha! It was you. I loved that necklace too - great style that can be used many different ways!

Lol Kristin! I actually made my mint green necklace before I made the miss pink necklace, then used what I had learned to make my daughters "miss pink." But good eye! I'm not sure if I would have been that observant!
