organize kids' artwork, for $1

organize kids artwork

Let me show you what prompted my need to organize my kids' artwork. My refrigerator! In addition to the things that needed to actually stay on there (carry out menus, coupons, grocery list, etc) there were just loads and loads and loads of my four year old daughter and niece's artwork:

And of course, throwing a single piece of artwork in the garbage was met with the huge sad puppy dog eyes and "Mommy! But that one's special to me!" or the ever popular "but I made it for you! Don't you want it?"

I can't pretend I don't know where my little girl gets her hoarding tendencies from. Someday I will show you my craft supply bins, but today is not that day.

For this though, I found a solution! With one simple, $1 purchase I reclaimed my refrigerator and organized the artwork! I turned my fridge door from a disorganized mess back into this:

Using only this!

Target to the rescue! I bought two identical file folders at the $1 spot, one for each girl. And of course they're both pink because God help us if one of them gets a pink one and the other ends up with the lowly purple one.

Now all of their artwork and work sheets are neatly organized and contained in this one folder, and my refrigerator door is mine once again!

Our rule now is that they can each choose one picture to go on the refrigerator, and all the rest must go into their folders. Anything that they don't put into the folders must not be "special" and gets tossed. And they both enjoy pulling all their artwork out and looking through all the pictures they've drawn, so it's really win/win for all of us.

So that's it for today! Just a simple organizing tip I thought I'd pass on. Because I am 100% sure that I am not the only parent out there with a problem organizing artwork!

  3. Keeping artwork in a folder is a great idea.... it's a must! We collect a lot of artwork too.

  4. Fun idea! Our kids have "special" boxes under their beds that they can fill up with their treasures. About 2-3 times a year we go through them, and by then they are often ready to get rid of a few items. Mommy's rules are: It get's thrown away if I find it laying around. If you want to keep it, get it into your "special" box. :)

  7. The cost of going to school has developed drastically in late decades. Charges alone can cost as much as $50,000 every year, a total that is far from generally families. The main choice is to look for monetary help, however in applying for understudy advances with terrible credit getting affirmed can be very dubious. check cashing
