simple earrings tutorial

I'm going to apologize in advance for the grainy photos in the instructions...I was so excited to make these that I took pictures in a dimly lit room at 11pm! I am in love with making jewelry, and sometimes I can't contain myself and I forget that I need good lighting to take good blog photos...

Anyways! I have another (very) beginner tutorial on how to make your own earrings. A while ago I shared my tutorial for the simple feather earrings in this picture:

I had several people ask me how to make the brown pair of earrings on the left. So today I'm going to show you how I made them! I started out with a pair of stamped leather charms that I got when I scored this craft haul. I loved these and thought they'd make a pair of really cute boho style earrings.

I started out with two earring hooks, two jump rings large enough to fit through the holes at the top of my charms, and two small jump rings to connect the charms to the earring hook.

First, I opened the loop on the bottom of my earring hooks so they looked like this (kind of like a hook):

Then I gently opened the large jump rings and looped them through the holes at the top of the charm, and slipped the small jump ring on the other side:

All you have to do now is close your large jump ring, and close the loop on the bottom of your earring hook, and you're done! So easy!

I have another thrifted outfit/sewing post coming up soon where you get to see me wearing them with an actual outfit. These are some of my favorite earrings now, because they're kind of a neutral brown leather color I can wear them with pretty much anything!
